About Tradewind Dachshunds
When Tradewinds started we were dachshunds by Kay and Robin. After about two years we realized that name was too long for pedigrees. So we changed the name and have been Tradewinds now for 20 years. When we first started out we started with a short hair dachshund named Shatzi and he was just too pretty to neuter. We eventually specialized in the long hair dachshund. We fell in love with the creams and the coats and specialized in lines that were from over seas.
My mother use to raise and breed and show toy poodles. So I grew up in the dog show world. A lot of my lines could be shown and finished but it’s not the life I want for my dogs. I was a vet tech for a few years as well as her puppy person. The vet i worked for specialized in animal reproduction. Between those two women I learned a lot.
My Mom unfortunately passed away 8 years into us breeding dachshunds. When she first passed I thought I was breeding them to carry on her legacy. It wasn’t long before I realized besides it being her legacy it was also my dream and legacy as well. So now I have been the head of Tradewinds since 2010.
